Reporting to the IT Network & Server Team Lead, this Senior Network Engineer will lead the design, development, support and operation of our Network Infrastructure, security devices and related components. Acting as mentor to other roles and being a point of escalation within IT.
Design, Implement, support and development our network infrastructure environment
Provides Level 3 Incident response, request and problem resolution in line with agreed, ITIL based standards.
Proactively manages the control environment in terms of change, risk and security
Regularly performs patching, upgrades and currency reviews to ensure the technical estate remains current.
Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability, reporting on resource utilization, trends, and capacity planning as required.
Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
Act as mentor to junior roles and seek to develop the team, deputising for the team lead on occasion.
Identify opportunities to reduce risk, improve processes, introduce Automation or otherwise enhance the delivery of IT network services
Qualifications - External
7 years + experience working in an enterprise network environment, preferably in a senior role
Advanced capability in IT Infrastructure, with hands on in-depth technical knowledge of some, or all, of key technologies i.e. Cisco Routing & Switching; Firewall Administration – CheckPoint | Fortigate | ASA | Cisco FTD; Cisco ISE support and administration; Advanced troubleshooting of VOIP and VPN solutions
3rd level qualification in IT discipline, or equivalent experience,
Minimum of one advanced Professional certification in Networks Technology e.g. CCNP Routing & Switching | CheckPoint CCSE; FortiGate NSE 4 or above; Azure/Cloud qualifications are an advantage.
Experience in leading, designing, deploying and troubleshooting enterprise networks
Strong and Demonstrable network security, web proxy, firewall and datacenter expertise.
Strong background in managing Change and Risk
Strong written and verbal communication
Ability to work well with technical and non-technical staff across numerous areas
Team player with a positive attitude, professional manner.
